The first thing I thought of here is ghosts but it could be humans crying. You set up the nicely though. It's night and very dark out. I imagine a moonless and starless sky by the way you painted a picture. The story seems to revolve around the book. It seems like you picked it up out of instinct instead of thinking of what might happen. To this point no one has looked at it in years so that could of been a first warning. Very bold ending to write about. You are brave but it is true. In the world nowadays it seems like people are killing others just for religion reasons and its sad. It difficult to watch anything because there is always something else. Great write.
