How far will you go?

by leilani   Apr 4, 2014

People d a lot of stupid things,
without thinking of the consequences they bring.
For what? I scream with frustration,
do you not realize you're walking with no direction.

People drink just to see how drunk they can get,
as far long as it's cool and the plain is set.
Kids smoke and grab drugs like sweets,
as if they have something to prove, something to beat.

Innocent souls commit suicide for Christ sake!
You don't have to be smart to guess who is to blame.
Teens are involved in violence,
rape victims are left in dramatizing silence.

We destroy mother Earth for our own pleasure,
not stopping to save just destroying to no measure.
We abuse each other to feel better for ourselves,
sending the abused closer and closer to hell.

We kill ourselves and others just to be accepted,
therefore leaving all that is pure neglected.
Just to be clear that kind of thinking is idiotic,
all this is enough to drive a person psychotic.

Answer my question if you dare,
but I have warned you so don't glare.
I have one question and I must know,
to be praised and accepted... how far will you go?

This must be a question to mankind; I guess! The poet is touched by number of crimes that rage each day in our society; emerging from taking of drugs, smoking, raping, murdering, violence and other social vices. Another problem the poet highlighted is that human are doing all these evil just to know, perhaps how it will hurt others or please themselves, or simply to know what that evil will be like (People drink just to see how drunk they can get). Because of all these, the poet was aroused to ask how far will human beings will go in doing evil........ I must comment the beauty of this piece. It's great of a young one of 14 like you to write concerning the society! Keep it up, 5/5
