Forest mist

by leilani   Apr 5, 2014

I remember the forest I remember that day,
I was running blind not knowing which way.
There was nothing to see but mist,
I couldn't sort out my feelings, there were many to list.
I was and alone,
My fear was sending chills to my bones.

I remember the owl's laughing screech,
I was at a loss of words, I had lost my speech.
The wind softly chanted words I could not understand,
I wondered if someone was near, if they would give a helping hand.
I kept running from grabbing trees,
the fear of all those blurred images still haunt me.

I heard a lot of strange noises,
I could feel the air and hear it's voices.
I kept running hoping to find what I had lost,
I was going to find my home no matter the cost.
It felt like the more I ran the more hopeless I became,
I was giving up and I was ashamed.

I was so afraid I would never find get home,
I was afraid that I would die there all alone.
Afraid that the forest would be my final resting place,
I felt that my fear and desperation winning the race.
But at that moment when all seemed lost and pointless,
I saw my path and all fear in me became powerless.

The home I was looking for I had finally found,
I sighed with relief as the wind blew with no sound.
I am still haunted by fear's kiss,
forever reminded by my memory of the forest mist.
