Anxiety

by DarkNDangerous   Jun 4, 2014

Dread creeps into my being gradually,
Whispers of terrors to come.
Grasping on the last moments of sanity,
As the heart pumps pins and needles leaving me numb.

Angst activates and takes hold,
The membrane of my existence turns pale.
Apprehensions run through my spine disastrously cold,
As sweat trickles down leaving an unsteady trail.

Uncertainty grips my throat like a noose,
The last ounce of control escapes in the last breath.
As lungs constrict with no choice but to loose,
This gravity of emotional hell crushes me to my death.

Suffering shakes my soul to misery,
Fighting for a moment of mercy to arrive.
Inability to prevent the lightning bolts of agony,
Ascending the unbearable hills to survive.

Restlessness is the blissful finale,
Leaving uneasy feelings to never subside.
Here to decay in this murky alley,
Till the next time I swallow my pride.

Some good imagery and description here, I felt you explained anxiety really well.

I liked the use of your rhyming, though it didn't flow too nicely and seemed a little forced it didn't go off track to the poem (which in my opinion is easily done)

Overall I enjoyed reading this piece. The last stanza I felt was the best.

5/5 from me for this brilliant piece =)
