Our Love

by -Choke-On-MY-Halo-   Jul 28, 2014

Suitcase waiting for loading
Minutes pass &,
The memories of his lies start;

'No baby I'm not cheating,
I love you'
As he intertwined her satin gloved hand with his
calloused one,
Snickering over her mistake
She enjoys the oriental breeze
Urging her forward to new horizons,

Memories begin again as the sunsets,
He had a mocking grin as he was found
Naked in the bedchamber with her "friend"
No shame just pure gratification,
Still a smile lingered over his lips as a gun appeared
In her hands
"Baby you won't kill me you're too kind hearted"
Were his last words
Smiling darkly she could see still his shocked face
Now she was on the run,
Trying not to wait for the justice that was on her head,

Spotlights of the tender moments
That they once had linger
Yet the betrayal sours it all
Because that "love" was fake...

Wow, I really enjoyed this piece. It has a vengeful spirit that is somewhat unique. I have seen this scenario, a lover finding their love in bed with another and then seeking revenge, but not yet in poetry, or in any that I recall at the moment.

The beginning is of the woman waiting to board her plane/boat, recalling the memories of the lies he spoke, promising her that he wasn't cheating and that he loved her, only her. She had been fooled once but as the rest of the poem clearly states, she will not be fooled twice. She finds him in the bed with someone who she considered her friend and that was it, she snapped. He underestimated her and before he knew it, she had shot him..all with a dark smile plastered upon her face.

She is on the run, hence the waiting for her suitcases to load. She recalls these memories but now they have a completely different taste in her mouth, they feel sour because they were not genuine, it was not true love.

    Well done!
