Promised Land

by Kakera   Mar 22, 2015

After the angels came,
we knew that their light
is what creates all darkness;
that the shadow's dancing
is our own fears made real,
trying to escape from their inferno

We knew purity to be a sin
that burdens our wretched souls
so that we may not lift our heads
from underneath this sea of suffering;
though it gave us true strength
when we created waves from our fury

So when we decided to seek providence
in the solace of their promised land,
we ushered all our hope into oblivion
and made peace with our condemnation,
as we painted the world with roses
and a myriad white feathers fused

At the end of their wrath
did we see the true shape
of the holy land we dreamt of,
perfectly framed by the bleakness,

all the divine and the mundane
laid to rest in perfect unity,
here in our promised land;
in this graveyard of shattered swords
where all our faith came to die
