Serpentess

by Shalkan   Jun 28, 2015

Bound in endless slumber for a thousand years by man
Prophecy fortells this day she rises from the depths of sand
Prophecy long lost to men who know not the serpent's prison breaks
Deep within the bowels of the earth the Serpentess awakes

Power, vast, cracks the land, sand dunes heave, collapse
Her minions come from the ends of the earth, the adder and the asp
Armies lost in the shadow of time feel the shield against their mistress break
Let this age of mortal children tremble at the Queen of Snakes

Memories incased in tombs of dust, known only to the sands of time
Recall an age when light and man were challenged by the serpentine
When all the armies of the world were gathered on the plains of light
To battle for the world itself, against the Serpentess and all her might

War was waged for many moons beneath the banners of the chosen
The land itself had held it's breath, the universe had frozen
At last the light was victorious, the basilisk was slain
Her armies broken, beat, and scattered, the Serpentess was chained

Prophecy has come to pass, now her shadow moves across the land
Once the serpent beaten down, but now she has the upper hand
For men live sudden, flashes of lives and ancient things, forgotten
The symbol of her dreaded return, the golden sun is blotted

Her forces move across the world that never stood a chance
The queen of snakes beguiles men, the world becomes entranced
Her armies ravage half the world, flying the banner of the asp
The adder has the other half held tightly in his scaly grasp

The Serpentess has claimed the world and swallowed the sands of time
The end of light as come and gone, the sun bereaved and blind
Prophecy retreats to worlds outside of time and space
This place once home to men and light is now her eternal nest of snakes
