DIY Frontal Lobotomy (HM)

by Mr. Darcy   Oct 5, 2015

Arrghhh - I scream in frustration,
Nothing ever goes right for me
It is always a fight you see?
The demons in my head-glue
I'm eternally screwed to,
feed on my
I n s a n I t y
reducing
Gravity,
Until
All
That's
left
Is
PAIN.

So

:

I bash my head hard against the wall
To make some sense of it all, but
the voices still mock me;
they boss me
& gloss
over
who
I
Am

:

I feel a tickle, a slight trickle
Running down my face
So I wipe it away.
& see red...
Have my
Demons
f l e d
from
my
head?

:

I scratch at the sore patch
Like a cat at a claw mat;
A frenzy of fingers
furiously
lingers
at the
more
ish
red
raw
bit.

:

There is a skin flap
I can feel that
attached
to my
Fore-
Cap

So

:

I pull and it tears some
there's pain, but
I reason, that
It is better
Opened;
like a
letter
with
a
:
Knife, a sharp serrated edge,
to Saw at the dead fed
Skin that dangles,
Mangled, like a
Lifeless
Lump
Of...
Dread.

:

I pull & pull, it doesn't snap
It only grows this flap of cap
U n r e e l i n g raw &
P e e l i n g more
Layers of
Feelings
From a
Life of
Mis-
hap

:

Am I going insane, or is my brain
oozing more of it
like sewerage
running down
a drain
each
grain:
a life
in
vain

:

As I look in the mirror at my
trailing mind, I feel less
the further I unwind...
Like spaghetti
& twine
My brain
Unties
From
mine
sickly
Grind

:

Finally
before
me a sloppy mess of
My memories, & pain, I guess?
Slithering, withering over my keyboard
From my sore...but now, I serenely, do not, care - l e s s...

The work of a genius Michael, sheer brilliance.
I didn't know whether to laugh or be sick!
I came here for a look of your stuff, as I needed some cheering up, and my God, my cup now runneth over with happiness!
I shall return to this poem again and again, but only at the times before I eat my dinner..!

    That video! Lolol!!

I understand this poem, the madness of life can get you down so badly. It takes a really strong set of shoulders to keep you head up :0)

Great lay out also, you are a master at this!

    Well done!!!

This, my friend, is a stroke of genius, from the layout, to the rhyme and the (may I say) quite horrid but wonderful imagery throughout. This is one of the most original pieces I have read on this site and will get my nomination when my votes are recharged later. If this isn't on the front page come next Monday, then the site must have been inundated with brilliance!
    All the very best Michael,
    Ben.
ps this is a poem that goes straight in my favourites and one I will return to again and again. Truly, well done.
