Dark Purple Boots Part 3

by No1ButMe   Nov 15, 2015

I can smell the fear
Such a sweet scent
To come from something
So weak and pathetic
People say I hunt the innocent
But who is really innocent
Everyone has secrets
Things that no one knows
Except me
Some call it a gift
Some call it a curse
I call it a responsibility
The stories about me
May be true
I may have no soul
But I still have
My responsibility
The small sound
Of tear hitting concrete
Brings me back to reality
Hiding never works
I lift the desk easily
Tossing it aside, with one hand
She is curled into
A trembling ball
With her eyes closed
Hoping, praying
This will save her
Me, I don't believe in hope
She begins to open her eyes
I smile
Her face contorts
I see this happen
All the time
The fear turns into confusion
My smile fades
My brow furrows
"It can't be you" she says
I no longer ask why
To be honest, I don't care
I reach into her mind
"I know your secret" I reply
As I find the nerve I need
It's so simple,
Like breathing
Her body becomes pale
Then explodes
Wiping off my face I grimace
"Those were my favorite shoes"
I will have to replace
Yet another pair of
Dark purple boots
I take out my notebook
Scratch her name
Off my list,
Walk away to find the next one...
