Black Lullaby

by Shelley Williams   May 14, 2016

Beyond the glare
of the shadow's eye,
and the red moon
in the darkened sky.

The creature creep
with dangerous hand,
A hum rise up from
the blood wet sand.

As if hope was gone,
torment caused loss,
Screams unheard
in swamp land moss.

Black whispers death
upon open ground,
A slithering torment
with a hissing sound.

Sleep comes quick
in thunder tones,
A shriek of fear,
crackling of bones.

Hate crash forth,
the devil creep,
Dark lullaby curse
the broken sleep.
