You are back (in my nightmares)

by deeplydesturbed   Jul 4, 2016

I close my eyes
I see your face
God help me
Escape this place

Why are you back
I thought you were gone
I can see it clearly again
Memories live on

As time slowed down
and I watched the clock
Crying silent tears
Shaking in shock

I awake crying
Soaked in sweat
Laying in the dark
Full of regret

I lay in silence
Why are you back in my head
Why are the nightmares back
Of you entering my bed

Scared to go back to sleep
I get up to shower.
Once upon a time - long ago
You stripped me of my innocence; all my power

Once again I feel dirty
Struggling to get clean.
I feel the pain over again
Last I dreamt of you, I was nineteen

And now you're back
Invading my dreams
You keep covering my mouth
Muffling my screams

Just leave me alone
Don't come back
Unless you are ready to finish me off
As I listen to my favourite soundtrack.

Nao, a very enthralling, dark write.

A dark poem that I hope is not literal but - unfortunately - I have a feeling it may well be.
Experiences like this are never easily got over; maybe never. All we can do is keep our heads up and keep on going and hope that it will get easier to bear one day.

note: 'and now your back' should be 'and now you're back'

Great write and all the very best,

    Ben
