My Immortal

by Maple Tree   Aug 31, 2016

A bloody cloak twas draped upon scorched shoulders
I lay barren, within a hopeless, romantic moon.

The night was etched with murderous Intention's
but evil kisses such a sweet rhapsody.

"Lay me down my immortal demon"
for I know nothing of love and winter.

As a soft rain slumbers, may I embrace death
While you breathe life within my soul....

Such a melancholy musing, dear poet.
    Darkly decadent.
I enjoyed this free verse frolic through the shadows.

Andrea, you continue to blow me away with your writes. This love, though sounding wrong in so many ways somehow just needs to be.

    Hello Andrea,

Life has many lessons to learn. Some if not most we know from practical application, whist others from pure theory.

Theory is okay, but you can't beat allowing the lesson to be taught, lessons such as: love and winter.

Usually love is associated with warmth and the season summer: summer love, Springtime lovers.

Here love is cold, the kisses are evil and etched with death. To me it's like loving at the end of a life (Winter), or when it's wrong in some way. I feel a sense of primal need for knowledge, an acceptance of letting go and offering oneself to a guilty pleasure.

The lesson learned is that, love can still feel romantic no matter the season, just as long as the romantic moon is high.

Well done, Andrea, another piece of art.

    Take care,

    Michael x
