Old Age Blues

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 13, 2015

When I was young I felt restricted,
trouble was never far from my shore,
now I just feel mostly afflicted,
when the dog catcher comes to my door.
Used to draw attention running wild,
now I just leave that to my best friend.
I need a leash to keep undefiled.
Don't brush my teeth because I have none.
My pains are many, my pleasures few
I'd stop on a dime if I had one.
My get up and go, got up and went.
If my younger self walked in my shoes,
he would have learned to be so content,
he would've not rushed the old age blues
