Brian goes to the Zoo!

by Arunansu   Oct 27, 2007

He was pestering me for days, "I want to see monkeys!"
I exclaimed, "why, you're one!"
That only increased his howls by leaps and bounds.

So the next Sunday, atypically
Brian was up very early.

He gulped down his breakfast, pretty swiftly.

Banging in through the Zoo entrance
with me by his side,
he set his eye on a group of passive ducks
leisurely wading in a pool.

With a rapture of joy he charged at them,
splashing and startling the world around.

It took lot of yells, shouts, explanations
and dialogs before peace got restored.

Brian didn't mind at all, and pulled me aside
towards the lion's cage.
Then followed a tough time, making him know
its not feasible to take
the "lion-cub home"!

To make up for the downer, we went to a peacock's enclosure;
but Brian became adamant, crying noisily, "I WANT JUST ONE of its feathers!"
To our help came one of the staff, looking amused at us.
No sooner did his hand quietly touched the train
of an unmindful peafowl, Brian clapped excitedly, "YEEEEEEAAH!!!"

The shout gifted a scratch, with blood oozing out
while I dragged my nephew, away.

Our last stop happened to be the monkey's lock in,
and Brian started whining, "I want to GET IN!" ( Oh! Had it been possible!)
"Yes, the right place for you", I muttered,
struggling to read with my new pair of specks,
a notice board in front.

Suddenly, out of the blue, my glasses got snatched;
I looked around, bewildered, when Brian pointed out,
"Uncle, see the monkey is watching us with your specks!!" ( laughing heartily!)
"And see what that notice says . . .
BEWARE. DO NOT COME NEAR the monkey's cage!!"

Literally, this must be monkey business!
