You are describing the person with a golden heart but a hard face, (that's me ha ha ) the one who grew purposely thorns to defend himself against the outer world. The cactus has grown thorns "on purpose" it does not want to be picked up, maybe some people like their ivory tower?

I absolutely loved this. What a lovely, yet sad picture you have painted lol. We are like cactus flower sometimes... shielding ourselves from the world. Excellent :)

I am like Gerard, this is me. Growing thorns and prickly stickers to keep people away thinking it will protect from hurt and pain. Well done.

This was written with a profound personal emotion and a clear understanding of the needs and desires of people who have been hurt too many times..Good Job..:-)

Very lovely poem hun. I love the simple rhyme and the imagery is once again flawless. A very wondeful piece. Nik

I really love this poem. I admire the cactus because many secrets hides within this plant. We will think of it as an indipendent plant that relies on very little to survived, yet what it did, in the fall of the night and dawn, it absorbed all the humidity and stock it within. I like the double meaning this poem gives. Very well done, my favorite, 5/5, kel.

This was a very nice poem and well written with loving emotions that I could truely understand. I found myself reading it more than once and at different speeds and rythems. Each time it was a comfortable moment as I let your words collide with my own thoughts. I liked the simple nature of this poem and liked even more that it was not filled with senseless dripple that some poem display. They get too complicated and lose their meaning. Not yours though - very nice and I hope to read more. Peace...
