Wrinkles (Villanelle)

by Sylvia

Wrinkles, crevices in the skin,
predictions of wisdom and knowledge, never age.
Each one molded by the spirit within.

In the corners of your eyes, near your chin,
imperfections, nothing more than signs of a sage.
Wrinkles, crevices in the skin.

Every day one appears where none had been.
An omen of good things, deeds performed on life's stage,
each one molded by the spirit within.

Smile, you have nothing to fear if you grin,
furrows your face will not engage.
Wrinkles, crevices in the skin.

Lines and creases uncontrolled, much to your chagrin.
Live your life to the fullest, without rage.
Each one molded by the spirit within.

Lines and creases, reflections of where you have been.
A lifetime of travels, each journey a new page.
Wrinkles, crevices in the skin,
each one molded by the spirit within.

Beautiful and touching, Silvia.
A Villanelle is a difficult format and you made it look so easy:)
Wrinkles, we all get them sooner or later.
Time has been very kind to me sofar, but I know I will have them one day too and I will wear them with pride:)

Hugs,

5/5 Ingrid
