Blow me a Candle

by Margaret Ruthfi Thomas

I never knew that sadness can be so tasty
and the pain that drifted through so silky
I never knew that the silence can be so loud
fading away in the innocent crowd

I took a sip from from the Holy Grail
and now eternity air I inhale
i live like a wither-less rose
frozen in a jar with a frozen pose

like a sculpted marble statue
and a hanging Mona Lisa
beauty is our virtue
something like the tilted Tower of Pisa

Scared, and Shattered
like a broken mask
