The Bombs Fly

by Cherimari2

The bombs fly
a rain of fire
Soldiers man jets
going higher.

Reason says let's
get out of here
Loyalty says
we have nothing to fear.

Heroes are made
each and every day
On battle-grounds
they run or lay.

Women wait
knowing their worth
Home in America
best place on earth.

Their sacrifice
is on their faces
Tears, prayers
and no disgraces.

Finally the word
is sent back to home
Your baby son
is now fully grown.

They said our soldiers
were 'cruel'
That they fought
by their very own rules.

I saw them spit on
the Vietnam Vets
Those men were heroes
that they had met.

Thirty years later
we still see the 'hype'
We have TV, movies
and bold type.

But I know their pain
in some degree...
They were heroes I know,
for my liberty.
