Be Still

by Jay   Feb 22, 2014

The voice within
Screaming "be still"
Smashing of fists
Begot from men's ill will

Intolerance
Bore from hate
Misguided are many
Convicted to tragic fate

Warring sides
Both will lose
Mindlessness
Ties its own noose

How great the cost
What more to sacrifice
Unquenchable the hunger
Nothing able to suffice

Innocent blood mixed
Pooled with greed
Peace must rise up
Refuse to concede

Be still
Foolishness runs by
Least one more soul
Should needlessly die

Be silent
Hear injustice scream
Give way to hope
Let love reign supreme
-Jay Pierce-

I put this in patriotic because I feel the sacrifices made daily are a result of humanities failure at peace. For the men and women who serve this is a poem of our failing you. -Jay

Wow incredible! You have made an excellent point with this poem, so true how our systems in place can fail those who deserve so much better than what they receive.

Again I liked your layout and your wording, as well as your flow and subtle rhyming in parts.

    Nice work
