FOOLISH PRIDE

by Michael Cronin   Mar 12, 2014

I'd like to tell you a story
About a man with pride
He would walk from sunrise to sunset
And always carry his head high
Many miles this man had traveled
Until the mysteries of life he did unravel
He decided to stop and take a rest
Realizing he wasn't the best
Life is a constant battle
Cause you only get one shot to go around
If you don't get it right
Your gonna fall down
So he held his head low in sham
For all the times
He had laid out the blame
He realized he had been living a lie
Full of self-indulgence and foolish pride
Spending time in the motion
Just moving along
Not knowing his peril
Or how he went wrong
He wanted to be more and get up again
Free from delusion and ready to begin
So he got down on his knees
Looking above
He filled his heart
Full of the love
The love for each other
There is no greater call
And now he keeps walking
And standing tall
