Grateful in each way.

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 12, 2014

To be alive, to know we are here despite nature's gales,
groaning and persuading us to prepare our stout sails,
for life tries to simply exist within these fragile bones,
but we breathe a life that shepherds and atones.

Too long have we been claiming victory over day,
let us be victors of the joyless nights we dismay,
for we are blessed beyond the ample earth and skies,
realizing desolation is what the spirit steadily defies.

Work toward a genuine, obliged state of mind,
knowing that as His creation, our lives are intertwined,
by each unyielding step and struggle we must endure,
we open a lighted path where His graces reassure.

Sometimes, I forget to be thankful for life, for a life that is not my own. I think it's too easy to get wrapped up in emotions or temporary things, and not realize how amazing it is to be alive, especially feel it and want to do more with it than what we currently are.... life is truly a gift.
