Pray

by Jack Nightengale   Jul 29, 2014

This is something new to me,
So I'm using it in poetry,
Guidance for the blind because, I can no longer see,
Excuse me while I bow my head and take a knee.

Tired of living life in the streets,
Need a bed with fresher sheets,
A place to rest my head and go to sleep,
No worries on my mind as I count the sheep.

A love in my heart as well as physically,
Bound by my word and different imagery,
Open my mind into a world without the drama,
A home of my own without my mama.

No anger in my veins and a loving heart,
Strong enough thread that it could never be pulled apart.
Am I crazy or simply going insane,
Because I feel your blood flowing in every vein.

I pray to heaven that I know exist,
The only lord I know in a shrouded mist.
A helping time and time again,
I pray that you forgive my sins, amen.

This is a beautiful poem. Went hand in hand with someone said at church this morning, and I was immediately drawn to it. Forgiveness is an act of accepting; you accept what Jesus has done for you, you accept His forgiveness, and it is done. :) Amen!

I really like this. It's simple and the flow is great, read aloud it sounds even better. The part that really stands out to me is the last stanza, praying for forgiveness? Always a great thing, and a really nice addition to this poem. Great job.
