Uneasiness.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 19, 2014

How do you prevent thoughts from
reentering when they have barged in
like robbers on a licentious spree
to break and reclaim the night.

When they have polished your attitude
and you enter life in a race,
without realizing they are driving.

- it's impossible, they say,
to unrestrictedly live -

I spend too many hours flirting with day's sun,
back against the bark of trees, naive to
the property these thoughts are stealing,
drinking energy and endurance until I
cannot bolt.

And I am reminded to:
Create instead of dwelling on the past,
personify all emotion until they
bleed onto paper,
work through opposing thoughts as if
words can convince them to vaporize.

And I concur, writing relieves anxiety,
but it doesn't fully heal the fear of
the unknown.

Because writing a poem about these trespassers,
doesn't clear my mind

enough.

    I can relate to this..
I write to keep my demons away, and no matter how hard I try to..they always catch up with my present life....
Thanks so much for reminding me of what need to be done.

You have put a question : a question we all have to deal with.Thoughts are consistently flowing in our mind. The art to hold the positive and let go the negative is called the Art of Living.
You have portrayed an imagery how these thoughts are draining your energy.
You have also answered your question .You are honest in telling the reader ,writing poetry ,being creative is not helping you to get rid of those thoughts completely.
    An excellent and true write.
