The World is a Shallow Place

by Sandstorm   Sep 22, 2014

The world is a shallow place,
Full of desperate people,
I'm looking for a friendly face,
But it's like a haystack without a needle.

Bitterness oozes out of the city,
Compassion sucked out of souls,
Nobody has time for pity,
On a globe that money controls.

And yet I see a brighter future,
With many helping hands,
Where nights do not bring a suture,
A time without demands.

A reality I'd like to call home,
A kingdom built of love,
Every person free to roam,
Like the clouds up above.

Indeed the world is a shallow place,
Superficial on many levels,
But what if life isn't a race?
No promise of a medal.

Alas my words aren't anything special,
For who would listen to the voice of a lone rebel?

Indeed it is a very nice poem full of so much truth about how this world is..

But its like a haystack without a needle

Hmm...or maybe for that above sentence you might be trying to say...

Finding a needle in the haystack...

And although , well,.i guess you used needle to rhyme the sentences...but needle and people don't really rhyme...and well if they do, my bad I just don't see it...

Thanks a lot for the nice feedback.
I did compromise the rhyming scheme a little to fit this line, and it's interesting that you aren't the only one to have picked up on this. I was basically alluding to the idiom "finding a needle in the haystack" to relate to my frustration at the situation, but at the same time trying to give a feeling of helplessness and inevitability by saying that there was nothing to find. Glad you enjoyed it though :) Unfortunately don't know hindi as I'm from a french speaking country. Thanks again :)
