Broken Truth

by Maple Tree   Sep 27, 2014

I broke at a tender age,
when life was honeysuckle
mixed with innocent tears.

I was always falling
within a summer breeze
being whisked away to
another rainstorm.

Drowning daily,
emotions became
bloated and I never
could decipher honesty
within my poetry.

When a part of you dies
beauty takes over, in a smile
or laughter, eventually
you begin to think life is
good.

I kissed depths of darkness
with a window looking at the other
side of life, that is when I put the
pieces together, slowly.

Being resurrected as a writer
is as blissful as a sunrise in winter,
cold and comforting.

I rise a broken soul,
beautifully flawed,
but I don't suffocate
on secrets-

I write them.

You make me completely lose faith that my poetry will ever be good. I adore your work and the crystal clear way you depict exactly what you want. Or need. With so much emotion, you never just write words. You create an entire being full of whatever emotion is needed to demonstrate your point. This is such a great poem.

I read this earlier and had no idea how to comment and I am still at a loss. This was beautifully inspiring and really dug into change and how writing really does give the darkness light.
