Crossing Paths

by Arrabella of the Night   Oct 1, 2014

1
Chance encounters pepper our lives with flavor. A brush with kismet is but a second in the scheme of boundless time. In crossing paths, not every one or thing is always meant to play the part.

2
Some are here to stay a lifetime for which I am indebted, while others drift across our walls as shadows of regret. Then there are those that breeze through our lives like a brief interlude.

3
And even though that might be the case, I'm very certain there's a bona fide reason why each and every one of these connections, even the transient ones, should and need to happen.

4
What does it all mean? Are they just learning experience we have to take in stride? Or do we just have to come to terms with letting go affably when it doesn't seem in the cards?

5
Must we stay the course and travel the designated route? Professedly we were never destined to have met after all. Doomed from the start, looming clouds part, impending writing on the wall wants to give way to another day.

6
Inexorable will, impeding possibly what could have been. Regardless of what the faiths have in store for us, I believe we can change that which is written in the god forsaken stars.

7
I desire to stay the course my friend, cross that avenue with you, create that beaten path and blaze a trail that's steadfast.

8
Is it too late?

9
Has it happened already?

10
Not again.....

The layout of this poem does not usually appeal to me, just because I personally think the short stanzas are easier to read, but somehow I could not take myself away from this poem. I think you have done this in a way which is not off-putting, and you have worded the poem in such a way that it holds the interest of the reader, and I honestly knew I would read to the end, I am glad I did.

Your content is really good, something we can all relate to, and I also really like how you have slowed the pace down, and also shortened the poem towards the end, but at the exact same time, you have built up a climax, a suspense with the questions, and then leave that with the reader. What a great way to end!

    good work.
