Looking Back

by Robert Daniel Long   Nov 9, 2014

As I pause for a moment
Just to take a breath
This busy life
That I have lead
Seems to take on, a new perception

I'm able to take notice
To my situations
And the inanimate objects that drive them......forward

We miss the little things
That has become more important
The longer we live
To say the least
They are what makes us who we are
And gives life purpose and the reason to live

In retrospect just examine this..,
The change of the seasons
Consider
The buds that bring the birth of spring
And a new beginning on life...,
As they form and break open
Revealing, a beauty hidden within

To the flowers of summer
As the world sees us in our glorious splendor
For the first time
Our flowers radiating the beauty
That only the eyes and the mind can comprehend

To the days of autumn
As life begins to change
Giving us the last chance
At revealing our beauty..., before its time to rest
Putting away the glorious splendor
Until the rebirth of spring

And we sleep away the winter
Tucked away warm and safe
In the arms of the one who made this time

The time of reflection
Allowing us to look back
See where we've been
Change where we're going
So that our final days journey

End with us
Standing before, GOD.
