Soup

by liliumity   Nov 22, 2014

People are like soup.

We come in infinite varieties and flavors
Like the simple and steady broth
The cool and zingy gazpacho
A tough and hearty stew

When overheated, we boil over
Fears and insecurities and anger
Tumbling over the edges of our pots
Leaving nothing but a once promising mess behind

We are dishes best served warm, happy and loved,
for being cold and lonely limits our potential
to shine to our brightest abilities

Some may find many who enjoys our flavor,
some may find few who find them palatable
But there are many different people out there
and eventually, surely, we will all find that one

The one who takes a bite of us and smiles,
tastebuds humming in happy praise
as they find they quite like this one
and ask for some more.

Okay I gotta say one thing like senyru.... Nice comparison.

Another thing I read this poem around two times senyru's comment is on my accounts page.... So I kinda read this thing more than seven times and all the seven times until now I read 'soup' as 'soap' and now that I'm thinking about it it makes me laugh because I kept reading your poem with soap in my mind as the comparison and I didn't understand the poem at all obviously how would I if I read it as soap.....

Now that I know it's soup... I understand it and find this poem very well written and very well compared....

Truthfully purple are of many varieties flavored differently... We get boiled and angry and lose all control not staying in our limits.
We are good and worth when we are warm and loving not cold depressed and lonely.

    Beautifully written...

I'm still laughing thinking that for so long I kept reading it as soap.
    Lol

    Keep writing and keep sharing.
