Shame

by Eugenius   Nov 30, 2014

An anti-ode to Russia
Being once begotten of thy worthless loins,
Having grown up as a personality,
With condemnation, with a solemn turmoil
I have come to speak with harsh brutality.

Thy kids live in kennels luxurious,
They are satisfied with stale bread and water;
Never do they think of being furious
Or of protesting 'gainst injustice. They kneel before thy altar,

Which is especially designed to worship golden calf
And toads of various kinds,
Who stand amid the humans on Lucifer's behalf
They lead the men the way of dark, obscured minds.

The day will come; the hour will strike bluntly,
Thou wilt be then forevermore condemned,
To the infernal Gehenna of History
Thou wilt for all the days descend.

The Time will not have mercy over you,
Thy remnants will be the canvas for something pristine and new.

This poem really captures a contempt for the way of today's society. I related to the overall feel of the piece. I also like how well it flowed, and the use of old english stands out as unique, especially on this website. Great poem. 5/5
