Alter Of Pain

by James Garrett   Dec 16, 2014

Alter Of Pain

I fell in love with a special friend who I prayed would stay with me until the end.

What need did I have of others in my life?
After all, he took away all strife.

As time passed I questioned his rising demands to be with me and control my shaking hands.

I gave to him all that I bestoed.
To keep him beside me my treasures had to be laid at the side of the road.

Suddenly I saw the truth of all ages.
Lose to win!...Lose to win!
I had to lose and only then would I finally quit my friend.

I admitted total defeat and began a dedicated mission.
It is based upon my change to one of total submission.

Finally free from the suffering and strife,
Today I give thanks for a changed life.
