How should I paint love?

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

A blank canvas, a cliché on its own
should I paint a heart
redder than the lipstick you wore
the first time we kissed.

Maybe a bolt of lightning
striking the very strings
that move my heart
like a puppeteer.

Electricity looks like a jumbled mess
of reds and blues, interwoven in green
yet I have never been blue, about you
though my thoughts........you know

I could paint a melting clock
but it has been done
to death
and could signify an end

How about a simple smile
unassuming and heartfelt
but if you hang it upside down?

I decide to leave it blank
so that you can see your own picture
and when you look at me
you will see what love can be.
