Destiny Behind Masks

by kaylie edgington   Mar 31, 2016

Some people write books
Some people write stories
I'd rather write my destiny
I know I write both ways
But these just help
Let out frustration
Emotions destroy dreams
So let them out
Don't fold don't hold back
Chase down your destiny
Let your spirit run wild
I know its scary to be yourself
But its better than hiding
Behind the mask of society

    Hi Kaylie,

You have a unique writing technique that really works and keeps me gripped all the way through. I like the meaning of the piece that we are all different in our ways and shouldn't hide behind society trying to be the same.
I believe many people can relate to this piece and those that can't relate to it can be inspired by it.

    Well done. Em

    Hello Kaylie,

I like the format of this poem. The content is inspirational and sounds like it comes from personal experience. Wise words indeed.

'Behind the mask of society' this suggest that the face we put on is one of conforming, trying to fit in. The poem offers reassurance that being true to oneself is okay. 'Emotions destroy dreams
So let them out' be yourself and set the truth free.

Well done, I am sure many will relate to your words.

    Take care,

    Michael

Thanks! Yes it was personal experience. I want others to not be afraid to be themselves. Not be afraid to stand out. It is better to be liked when you are being yourself than pretending to be something your not! i have learned this and am happy to say Im not afraid to be myself
