Life's Complexity

by William Mae   Apr 27, 2016

Life's complexity

The body shall lose its seely grip,
And the soul and spirit leave,
Fly past nature's natural bonds,
While the urn lies down in sleep,

Leaving the body they bid farewell,
And from its presence slips,
They mourn the days that use to be,
But still they make their trip.

What awaits we only guess,
And the body begins decay,
The spirit and soul rise to live,
They do not pass away.

Life is taken for granted,
With endless days it seems,
Memories now and aching hearts,
No visions now or dreams.

The wind of change left it's mark,
Nothing to dispute,
What's written now is written,
When death spells out it's truth.

The hour glass drips no more sand,
Just silence fills the void,
The song of life is quieted,
No more strumming on its chord.

The foolish thought would think like this,
The person can't return,
But harder to birth a person once,
Then twice to birth the urn.

The question isn't will they live,
The answers clear they do,
The question left is tell me when,
They will be born anew.

Life can be difficult can't it but we can only learn from our own mistakes.

This piece made me think and rethink life in all it's glorified madness (life not the piece lol)

The body shall lose its seely grip,
And the soul and spirit leave,
    Fly past nature's natural bonds,
While the urn lies down in sleep,
    ^^
A lovely opening that has beautiful imagery of a soul leaving the earth, flying past the earths atmosphere to be reborn again.

Leaving the body they bid farewell,
    And from its presence slips,
They mourn the days that use to be,
But still they make their trip.
    ^^
At first I thought this was about the people mourning the lost loved one but in fact I believe it's the soul bidding farewell as they are still going to make the trip and do they have a choice?

    What awaits we only guess,
    And the body begins decay,
The spirit and soul rise to live,
    They do not pass away.
    ^^
I love this stanza because we can only wait and see about what lies for us in the hour of our own passing. Many people have their own view on what happens and rightly so because who knows until they have been there. I love the image of soul and spirit not dying because I believe they do live on.

    Life is taken for granted,
    With endless days it seems,
    Memories now and aching hearts,
    No visions now or dreams.

Life truly is taken for granted by each and every one of us. We never know what's coming around the corner and should live each day as it comes but many people don't. Memories and dreams are but imagination now.

The wind of change left it's mark,
    Nothing to dispute,
    What's written now is written,
When death spells out it's truth.
    ^^
A very powerful stanza. I feel nothing in life is known apart from the day we are born and die which we have no control over.

The hour glass drips no more sand,
    Just silence fills the void,
The song of life is quieted,
No more strumming on its chord.

This grip my heart. The imagery and wording is great. No more dreams as they've all gone, right?

The foolish thought would think like this,
    The person can't return,
But harder to birth a person once,
Then twice to birth the urn.
    ^^
Wow. Yes, I think it would be harder to birth a child once than bury somebody twice.

The question isn't will they live,
    The answers clear they do,
The question left is tell me when,
    They will be born anew.
    ^^
A beautiful ending of a soul being rebirthed after dying.

    A well deserved win. Em

As interesting as life can be it is also complex and there is a lot to learn from it..no matter how old one gets he/she is still learning.

    Life is taken for granted,
    With endless days it seems,
    Memories now and aching hearts,
    No visions now or dreams.

^^So true life is taken for granted and we fail to see the blessings which is in front of our eyes until its late and then we only have memories and hurt.

A poem to make the reader to sit back and think about life I like the message and I like the way you have penned this. You have written after a long time yet your touch with rhyme and rhythm is flawless!
