Waiting

by Beautiful Chaos   May 6, 2016

I let them see
They abandon me
Nothing grows where love has died
My soul becomes a desert
I die of thirst
Emotionally, spiritually
Vultures circle
Waiting to feast on pain

It feels like a heart
Waiting to beat
With the rhythm of another
In a world full of corpses
Dead from the waist up
Unbridled ego
From the waist down
Neurotic narcissism

Emptiness
In an overpopulated world
Thirst
No liquid can quench
Somewhere in this sea of the damned
Drowns the love
The one
My heart craves

"Emptiness in an overpopulated world" my favorite line. You can be with someone or around many others and still feel alone. Nothing but bodies with no inside. So very sad but true. Thank you for sharing. All the best

As Michael says, this piece is rich in imagery. Good use of figurative language is essential in dark poems and this write is awash with it.

    All the best,
    Ben

Very visual emotional poem, loved it.
    Particularly the middle verse.

    Hello BC

This is an excellent piece full of contrasting images and metaphors. It feels like the emptiness is a creation of what can't be possessed. It's like the longing for a drink twists the gut into a pained mass.

    Super.

    Take care,

    Michael
