Everything "Holy"

by DarkNDangerous   May 25, 2016

Verses that stand on a pedestal of lies,
Breed an uprising continuation of hate and deceit.
An abundance of exquisite creation and time passes the universe,
As old hymns bind life in submissions of scripture.
Of what once were peacefully understood guidelines,
Outbreak the ignorance of change.

Humankind can abhor sin,
But it is as natural as existing.
Idolized prophets solidify sole foundation,
While humanity grips them like a noose.
False divinity that civilization follows,
Destroys morality in the process.

Ignorance of visionless selfish faith,
Distribute segregation and diminish human worth.
Arrogant beings fearful of extinction,
Need a fallacy to grip tight and avoid perdition.
Holding onto aging guidelines,
From human clairvoyant opinions.

Thoughts and ideas from an immortal deity,
Dispense verbal gossip to the chosen.
Misunderstood demonic creatures of innocence,
Are born into hatred and oppression.
Cast out and ostracized for eternity,
For the sake of everything "holy".

This poem was a difficult read the first two times I read it. It is a bit of a mouthfull and choppy.
However that being said, third read in the meaning starts to explain itself. This site loves nothing more than a good spirited religious debate. This poem is strong in its stance, we know what side of the fence this author would be seated. I love how 'holy' is exaggerated by the punctuation. Very sarcastic and sarcastic is good in my book. This is a rose among the forms tonight with it's stumbling rhythm and lack of rhyme, yet the imagery is amazing and the meaning intense. Such a dark tone as well. 10 points.
