Heart of the desert

by Dancing Rivers   Jul 15, 2016

Dry arrid wastelands turn to dust
As misery strides in with the desert winds
Wiping away all sentiments and lusts
Leaving nothing but corpses needing rest to find.

Old grey eyes glare at the dark expanse
Mocking what little life is held there
Trying to conjure some hope perchance
To quench the fires of fear.

Beautifully written piece of work that almost reads like an old-fashioned tale, spun into eight hypnotic lines.
    Wonderful poem.
