LISTEN
Why don't people understand me?
I try to be thorough and concise
I attempt to be honest and precise
I say what I mean as clear as I can
But it still seems that they don't understand
The words I use are misconstrued
I am attempting to be kind
And it comes off as rude
I am always trying to re-explain
What I thought was very plain
I think if they would only look in my eyes
They would hear what I mean and not theorize
About what I'm saying, coming to conclusions
That only adds to the overall confusion
I pray at night for the ability to communicate
So with my fellow man I can relate
Hear and be heard, talk and listen
That's the goal I seek, my purpose and mission
I hope you understand what I just said
I tried to be clear, not have it go over your head
