Soothing Summer

Soothing summer

Soothing summer
swaddling the days
Children scream
in innocent banter
eyes aglow
of childhood dreams.

A monster lashes
As roaring winds
struggle to hold
Screaming, retching,
whining, moaning,
copious torrents
sapping the soul.

Oh where oh where
are you mother?
