Conversation of Crows

by Arunansu   Dec 24, 2007

Exclaimed one, "are we
mere scavengers?"

Said the second, "What's wrong with that?
Diverse, are the forms of Work."

Shot back a chorus, "They look down upon us.
Down upon us."

Added a third, "Need all
boast of multihued feathers?

Need all croon
as a nightingale?"

"Our only child," told the fourth,
"Got into their living room,

he now lies, dumped
on a garbage bin."

Silence mourned.

Then the first one shrieked,
"Everyone join in,
give voice to our pain"

Like a bolt from blue
all wings stretched out,
staccato shouts ringed the air

"Revolt! Revolt! Revolt! Revolt! . . . "

Cries pelted on every brick in sight.

They made
my walls vibrate
