Arousal

by Arunansu   Jan 7, 2008

Temple bells, resonant.

On the stairs-
begging arms and footfalls.

She sat on a corner, in tatters;
her smile, wrinkled.

I had no change in pocket,
my helpless eyes chose
to look the other way.

Yet her voice
faintly entered,
"you need a heart."

Bells rang louder.
