Contemplating Color

by Melissa   Apr 20, 2009

I don't suppose
the white hums of summer
will ever out strum the blues;

but here before me,
two colors mingle
in polite harmony-
spouting about
like versed chums
over black coffee

so why do I stand here
cockeyed
and bashful
in these careful shades of yellow,
mulling over red
and its poignant way
of bruising my heart
a callous hue of indigo

I liked it. It is different. Nicely worded and the flow was good.

    gave it a 5/5

    A pleasure to read..
    even drenched in melancholy
    as it is..

I suggest you place a ? at the very end...
    after all..It is a question...'-)

    Why, indeed?

Being a color freak, I especially appreciated this well-phrased contemplation on the interactivity of some of life's every day colors....though I confess I have never seen red as 'poignant'....hmmmm I must
    contemplate this concept....;~)

I feel that color has a profound and quite direct connection to emotion and you play around with that here to a nice effect. Red might either represent passion or anger here, or perhaps even a male figure, but I don't want to go and pick this too much apart because I don't really know what I'm talking about. Enjoyable read.
