My Potion

by Maple Tree   Mar 17, 2015

Words are falling stars
dangling from a spider webbed scarf
of a naked birch tree-

Standing alone in the moonlight.

Punctuation is iridescent glitter,
scattered crossed a barren meadow
of fallen flowers of Autumn.

Mixing tears with adjectives
is a collection, a collage
of notebook confessions.

I've been known to brew sonnets
within a cauldron after three
in the morning, potions create
paragraphs of shadowed spirits-

My potion is poetry, a conversation
from me to you....

~ Thank you Mary Anne for the inspiration ~

    Andrea,

I absolutely love this. I was sifting through your back catalogue and the title of this caught me so I thought I'd have a look and I am glad I did.
This really is a wonderful dedication to poetry and your use of metaphor throughout is breath taking.
    My favourite stanza:

    "Mixing tears with adjectives
    is a collection, a collage
    of notebook confessions"

    Brilliant and inspired writing.

Take care, Andrea and all the best,
    Ben

A very creative piece by Andrea this week, which really shows her skills in being able to transform ordinary things into such unique metaphors. The poem is beautifully constructed, and I really enjoyed the idea of the poem being about poetry itself, and how it can be used to communicate so well. Lovely job.

This is mystical, with a hint of addictice sadness. Its like autumn in all it's glory. Nostalgic.. Haunting .. And simply beautiful.

This poem has touched me so deeply...
    Nominated.

Awwwwwwwww thank you Larry and Meme!!

I've noticed Larry, since my spider bites and allergic reaction fiasco... I tend to mention spiders metaphorically in my poetry somewhere... I think I am a 1/4 spider now ha ha ha ha

I believe everything except that you would come anywhere CLOSE to a "spider webbed scarf"
