What You Think You Know

by JLT   Aug 17, 2006

And when all this shyt comes to an end,
The only thing you'll have to show,
Are broken hearts and wasted years,
And the truth in what you think you know..
You can't live like this forever,
Attention isn't all that sympathy brings.
You'll be a pathetic old disaster,
Who won't amount to anything.
The easy way isn't always best.
There's a trick behind every door.
Sometimes you have to take the window,
Just to get back up from the floor.
And when your memories disgust you,
You'll remember all that I once said.
And I hope to God you'll realize,
Your whole life, you've been dead.
Dead to your surroundings,
And dead to your true friends.
Because you never take the time to appreciate,
The things that can never end.
And you'll realize, that if you took the time,
I'd still be there with you.
But you never bothered to memorize,
The things that will get you through.
And you'll think that you're strong enough to let me go,
Just like you've always thought you've been.
But I hope you'll learn your lesson,
When the pain you think you know sinks in.
