Love Stands Alone

by Meena Krish   Oct 1, 2014

Emptiness is rising,
fresh scent of loneliness
tweets as it sits upon a branch
unseen,

His assurance, her doubts...
they have ceased to meet and
have lost their voice somewhere in
between,

Pained petals softly fall...
while the sun crawls back to bed
leaving a barren stem in the
green,

Love, she stands alone
as the diamond studded sky
brightens her plight with a grin...
so mean.

As is mentioned below, the idea of loneliness having a scent is a stroke of genius, in my opinion. And the alliteration, personification and metaphor in stanza three is wonderful! lol . Truly a great use of poetic tools here.
Meena, this is a wonderful piece of writing and added to my favourites!

Stunning imagery of nature, yet sorrowful emotions of loneliness and distance between love and the heart. The contrast in this poem is between the beauty within the nature, the world around, and the darkness of the pain of being alone. It is written in such a powerful, yet short way, that the emotion is felt strongly and lingers within that final stanza. This poem is a must read for anyone who admires the connection between nature and emotions, and nature and ourselves.

Your agony is reflected in your poem. I want to know, "When a person gets his true LOVE, does he/she still give the same importance or they take their Lover for granted? Does a Lover become important only in separation?
