Broken Promises

by Michelle   Feb 11, 2008

Oh God, no.

hallow lines written
on false pages, singing
worthless lyrics and
invisible letters.

Thoughtless tears fall
onto sorry hands of cold
and icey fingers entwining
with pretty plastic chains.

Eyes plead guilty,
yet see right through
the red vines and thin branches
reaching across the snow.

Arms enclose firmly,
as if to secure but they
press the lungs, burn the skin,
break the bones, and the spirit.

Tears fall
the mind whispers
the heart screams
Oh God, no.
