Damaged Youth: Daddy's Litte Girl

by Eman D   Feb 14, 2008

That day in the hospital
Daddy knew his life would change
But Daddy never knew
He'd be crying over that moment in time in the picture frame

Today Daddy is sad
No one to blame but the world
Holding a picture of a little girl smiling
Underneath it read "Daddy's Little Girl"

Way back when she was younger
She spilled on Daddy's favorite tie
He laughed and said it was all right
He hugged her as she cried

Fast forward a little
When she was thirteen
Daddy caught her smoking cigarettes with her friends
He told her he was disappointed at what he seen

She made a couple mistakes
But to him she meant the world
He forgave her every time
Because she was Daddy's Little Girl

Fast forward to when shes fifteen
She came home drunk from a party
Daddy tried to tell her to make the right choices
But was she listening? Hardly

Now its a year later
Almost the same situation
Except this time she smelled like weed
Daddy was starting to show his frustration

Daddy told her to wise up
But she was still his world
He forgave her because he loved her
And because she was Daddy's Little Girl

Exactly a month later
Daddy found condoms in her room
Some missing from the box of 24
He was tearing up as he told her
She still a little girl
She did that way too soon

Move forward in time about a year
Now she was doing all kinds of drugs
And the guys at the high school knew
It wasn't hard to receive her love

It wasn't long after
She had to get an abortion
Daddy told her he was feeling hopeless
His faith in her, he lost a large portion

Daddy cried
As he watched her life rot away
She would fill her drug needs at night
And come home in the middle of the day

Daddy asked if she could stay for dinner
Daddy just wanted her to stay home
He had a bad feeling about tonight
He could feel it in his bones

But of course she didn't listen
She told him not to worry
He sighed and said OK
And she left in a hurry

Daddy stayed up all night
As she was having fun
Suddenly her chest became tight
It was hard to get air in her lungs

She danced through the night
Until she fell to the floor
Medics rushed her to the hospital
But they could do no more

Daddy cried his eyes out
He held her lifelessly in his arms
Her body cold
Her life gone
But he continued to hold on

Daddy knew he did all he could
She was all he had in the world
He loves her no matter what she did
Because she was Daddy's Little Girl

This really happens in the world
And thats the damned truth
This is just one story
One story about the Damaged Youth
