Speaking in Tanguys

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 23, 2008

'The Extinction of Useless Lights'
Is appropriate in defense from bombers,
Or in preservation of resources needed,
But horrific when applied to beauty & children.

The light in my daughter's eye is the spirit
Of a goddess - it walks on the water of my soul.
Never would I see it placed under the bushel
Basket of conformity or propriety.

Let it shine in wasteful exuberance
And let the landscape enjoy two dawnings,
Both sol's and hers, on a daily basis,
And gladly I will pay the price of her utility.
