Walking River Muse

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 24, 2008

San An', you're more than a River,
Yet you've pulled your stream to your bosom:
Fern-let bank encased
In Mother Earth's rough souled stone,
Cypressed canyon of Texas culture.

I can believe that the Alamo Heroes sleep easy,
Even in the midst of your civilized crush
- which lies here
In delicate suspension of disbelief.
