Pierced

by Sherry Lynn   Feb 29, 2008

Lone soul smothered with despair
Yearning to be consumed in Christ
Cold war rages on showing its brutal head
Spiritual warfare engulfs all abroad

Lies, deceit, hatred, and anger
All revolve hopelessly around
Ripping spirits from security
Unable to fathom angelic thoughts

"Forgive me, Father
For I have sinned"
Speaks abundant volume
From sinners lips

Truth, honesty, forgiveness, and peace
Suddenly develop from somewhere deep
Comfort of nail pierced hands
Emerge lovingly without haste

Protected now by God's word
The hands of Christ displaying grace
Comforter, builder, protector, and rock
Shield me from Satan's harm

Redeemer, friend, brother, groom
All things possible through you
Thank you, Jesus, for your love
Thank you, Father, for your Son

Sherry, I love this piece! I love reading poems that really capture the essence of God's wonderful word, and will for us. This poem conveys a great heart of faith, and confidence towards God and his amazing son, Christ Jesus. (: Strong cadence, descriptive words, and blatant truth.

One thing confused me though, the last line of the fifth stanza, "Satin's" ... forgive me if I am wrong but I have not seen that spelling before, should it be `Satan's` instead?

Anyhow, I really enjoyed reading this piece, and look forward to reading more from you. Thanks for sharing.

    Keep writing down the bones!
    xoxo, `Novalyn

This is a thought provoking piece. It conveys faith, hope and love and was beautifully penned. Even for the not so religious readers, it is still apiece worth reading. Nice job!
