Letters To Lovers Part Seven: Tonight My Devil Dies

by Ashes of a Black Rose aka Night Child   Feb 29, 2008

They we say we have an angel and a demon in our minds,
I found that little devil but the good was hard to find.
Turns out that angel was my heart, no halo, just the wings,
The devil chants revenge while my angel softly sings.
I guess he fell in love with her, my pure, sweet little heart,
And since he came, the devil's gone, vanished from the start.
He left my once for just a day, and so my angel cried,
The devil found me broken down and whispered to me lies.
It told me things so bad, so wrong, but broken heart believed,
For one short day it made me think my lover had deceived.
But angel sang her saintly song, and brought me back to light,
And though my devil nagged at me, I knew my angel right.
She told my devil, with her harp, to "cease now with your blame!"
But with devil's damage sadly done, nothing stayed the same.
Emotions made a total mess and things came to a halt,
Words were said and lies were spread and it's my devil's fault.
I'll never hear its voice again, I'll never watch it slither,
I'll knock it off my shoulder and watch that devil wither.
My heart will bleed and hurt no more, no more my angel cries,
No more whispers in my ear, because tonight, my devil dies.
